Week 8: Pro Tanto Quid Retribuamus

***Title translation: (Latin) What a great reward.

Hello my wonderful family and friends,

So many things happened this last week. Florida is definitely getting a lot warmer. It's been in the eighties for most of the time and also the first rainstorms are starting up.  What happens is that it gets pretty cloudy and then a storm that rivals El Niño comes in and proceeds to drench everything in the area. That has happened twice so far and each time I have gotten really wet. That's basically what the summer will be like every day. Joyful.

We had a baptism last Sunday. Whoo!!!! Michael Ferrell is his name and it was really cool because the rest of his family is saying that they are going to be baptized as well.  His dad, Greg, basically bore his testimony in Elders Quorum and says that he knows that the church is true and really wants to be baptized. His sister Michele is also planning on being baptized by the end of March. We also have several other baptisms set up for March and are hoping they will go through.

There are some cool stories about our investigators. Jerry has been flying through the Book of Mormon and doing well with the lessons and really enjoys everything we teach him. Bridget and Richard are also doing well and are progressing. We taught a big family yesterday and they all want to meet with us again. Basically we have a bunch of potential baptisms that could happen, the hard part is just getting them to church and getting all the lessons taught but if they are prepared they will make it.

Zone conference was last Thursday and we learned lots of stuff there about driver safety and more about how the mission can do better. One ambitious thing the mission president wants to do is get to where all the missionaries work with the members to find and teach investigators. They also want to get a bunch of baptisms this year and next year which will take lots of work but it is doable.

Some of the other Elders had a really disconcerting experience. They went to this other church yesterday with someone and it turned out to be a Pentecostal church. The whole thing was weird because they started speaking in tongues (which was unintelligible gibberish) and everyone started with creepy laughter and some people were shaking spasmodically. They said that it wasn't good at all. There are a bunch of different churches around here and many of them have ideas that totally are not true at all.

Well, that's a pretty good explanation of this last week. Lots of cool stuff happened and I saw lots of our investigators feel the spirit.
