Hey everybody!!!
This week was quite a good one. Things are definitely
turning around here in this little spot of central Florida. I shall
endeavor to explain it all to you.
I went on an exchange with a new missionary. We
walked around a lot and got soaked during the day. The rainy season of
Florida will last until September or so. Umbrellas do not help out so
well with the furious wind here. In order to exchange back Elder Mangum
drove over here with a member, during a temporary split type deal.
It rained a whole lot this week and I had to change several times
due to how wet I got. We spent some time in a rural town this week and during our
finding efforts we ran into a nice redneck guy. He told us, amidst
profaning, that he was not interested but liked that we talked to him.
Most people in this town see us and then flee away and hide inside.
Jesus, our main investigator, came to church this week. He sat
through sacrament meeting and was able to get to know a whole bunch of the ward
leaders here. We have Greg and Jamie as two other investigators who seem
prepared.
The Winter Haven Elders in our district had a baptism in their
area so we went with Bishop McKendrick over there. He told us a lot about
how he likes to bike and will be going on a five - hundred mile bike ride
sometime in the fall. When the baptism was taking place (Bishop
McKendrick did the baptizing), one of the doors to the font would not open so
the Bishop of the Winter Haven ward needed to open it up. It seemed
symbolic of how the gate to eternal life is opened through the Priesthood.

Genesis 45:1-15
I learned from the example of Joseph in Egypt that we should not
let anger or wrong doings ruin our lives. Joseph had been sold into
Egypt, thrown into jail, left in jail for two years and a bunch of other
misfortunes caused by his brothers but he forgave them rather than being
angry. Because of this forgiveness Jacob and his sons were able to enjoy
the rest of their lives with Joseph without any contention.
