"Angels we have heard on high, sweetly singing o'er the
plain, and the mountains in reply, echoing their joyous strain"
Hello to everyone,
December is here and I can hardly believe it. It feels like
it should still be January but it is not. Oh well, it has been a great
road so far. It feels akin to something President Hinckley once
said: "I have been thinking of the road that led here. I know
that I have not come that road alone."
This past week was truly a great one. It began with us going
around the area trying to contact some people but due to the holiday season,
many of them were not available then.
We were able to go to the Orlando temple this week. The Temple
trip, as we called it, began with waking up early and then driving all the way
to Plant city. We then piled into a fleet of vans and drove to
Orlando. We then went to the temple and enjoyed it. The Temple is
truly a special place where we can receive answers. The spirit is definitely
at the temple. After the Temple session we went to Davenport (a town
nearby Orlando) for a Zone Conference in the Citrus Ridge ward building.
The Citrus Ridge ward is doing really well in terms of missionary work.
They ordered Light the World cards which is cool. Zone Conference is
always good but this one was great.
The rest of the week was pretty cool. We went out to a place
called Wimauma. It's a long way to go on a bicycle so we drove out there with our bikes on the rack. There seems to be no one who speaks English out there so
we promptly left to go to more populated neighborhoods. We had
correlation on Thursday night and Brother Young, our ward mission leader and we
discussed how we may get the members more involved. Light the World seems
to be the best bet right now.
Our ward had a Christmas party on Friday. We came expecting
a bunch of people but due to road construction we had about half the cultural
hall filled. It was a good party nonetheless and it was great to talk to
the ward and get to know them more.
The weekend was a good time as well. We went to an event our
Stake had, called Oh come let us adore Him. There were a lot of
performers from local schools and groups. There are some less-active members
who are working at coming back to church and they have two unbaptized children
over the age of eight. The kids wish to be baptized and the family is all
for it so we are working with them to get them to the font. It should be
a great time seeing where this all goes.
Sunday was great as always. We shared Light the world with
some members and watched the First Presidency Christmas Devotional. I
enjoyed Elder Uchtdorf's talk about how we need to give service.
There is much to be grateful for this Christmas season. I will work at being more grateful as that is something I can be better at but all of you are awesome, keep doing lots of good and have a great week.
